The Incandescent Light Bulb Gets A Second Chance

Guess what? The incandescent light bulb will live on as the Energy Department is proposing to rescind the Obama’s administrations ban on them as “more stringent standards are not economically justified,” the Energy Department concluded.

Incandescent bulbs are much less efficient with only 5% of their energy is converted into visible light and the rest is transformed into heat. Incandescent bulbs are less expensive that LED’s (Light emitting diode) but with the prices for a 40-watt LED plummeting from $50 in 2011 to $2 currently, consumers will most likely opt for the longer life LED bulbs in the future.

The LED lamps are so good, so much more energy efficient and now priced well that I’m expecting LED to continue the trend of replacing incandescent regardless of whether incandescent are legal to sell now or not.

And he is redoing the entire Light Fantastic store for LED lights which is expected to revamp itself by January 2020.
