2020 Market Update | December

As we approach the 2020 holiday season, it feels like we are extra giddy about the nostalgia of all the familiar traditions. I’m sure you noticed that people put up their decorations and lights earlier this year, and if you think about it, I think it just goes to show you that people are all searching for ways to create magic and spread kindness throughout their little worlds. And it makes sense, right? We all totally were in survival mode for the better part of the year. We need something familiar like the smell of grandma’s cookies that we bake every year at Christmas or the tradition of decorating the tree with our kids no matter how old they are. I know that personally, I enjoy playing Christmas music and dancing around the house to the songs that have helped me welcome winter for decades. Again, it’s the familiarity that brings me such a warm and fuzzy joyous feeling. I am so proud to be a Dallasite, and a Texan, especially now. We are seeing droves of people flocking to our great state looking for what they once had. Texas is an entrepreneurial state made up of tech, energy, and dozens of other industries that provide jobs and opportunities to its residents. If you are new to our state, please remember why you have come here. Also, this is the perfect time to remind all Dallasites to shop your local retailers who have struggled immensely throughout this ordeal and that need our help now more than ever. Looking ahead to 2021, I am choosing to focus on the word inspiration. There are so many people I get to meet and see daily that inspire me. Take 87-year-old weaving designer Hanne Vedel for example who has been creating rugs and upholstery without skipping a beat throughout this pandemic. Her work is mesmerizing and she, like my grandmother who is my number one inspiration, loves going to work every day. I really would love to know someone that inspires you. Won’t you respond to this email and share that story with me? This new year is also going to be about learning how to be together once again, and you know that I literally cannot wait. My life’s work as a realtor is made even more meaningful because of my interactions with my wonderful clients that I get to also call friends.

As always, your referrals truly mean the world to me, and I hope that each and every one of you is able to spend this holiday season safe and healthy in a house that feels like home.
